AGE – Contribution to the consultation on the European Institute of Technologies

30 June 2011

The European Institute of Technology (EIT) was set up in 2008 with the objective of delivering world-leading innovation via integration of the actors of the “knowledge triangle”: research, education and business.

The EIT contributes to a number of flagship initiatives laid down by the EU 2020 Strategy like the “Innovation Union”, the “Agenda for New Skills and Jobs”, or the “Digital Agenda”.

Until now, the EIT covered mainly three different topics: climate change, sustainable energy, information and communication society. A second phase will set out the long-term modalities for the operation of the EIT from 2014 and a Strategic Innovation Agenda will be defined.

Among the topics linked to social challenges that could be included in this second phase, ageing is mentionned.
