Following its General Assembly on 8 June, AGE Platform Europe has decided to support the ‘Scenario 6: Sustainable Europe for its Citizens’ developed by the NGO Coalition and led by SDG Europe Watch (read our previous article here). The Scenario, which has been endorsed so far by more than 250 other signatory organisations, calls for a sustainable and fair Europe with a strong focus on Europe’s core social values – democracy and participation, social justice, solidarity and sustainability, respect for the rule of law and human rights. It also calls for a European social model that “provides full protection to all workers, all consumers and all generations of people living in the EU”.

It has been publicly launched on 20 June, just ahead of the European Council on 22-23 June, with a press release to the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, as well as the Vice-President, Frans Timmermans, the Commission’s Secretariat General, Donald Tusk, and the European Parliament’s President, Antonio Tajani.
