ERF endorses AGE recommendations to adapt road signage to ageing population

The European Union Road Federation (ERF) has published a position paper on improving traffic signs on European roads, which includes some of AGE recommendations.

ERF Paper 2015In line with our suggestions, ERF indeed takes the ageing of the EU population into account, highlighting the importance of the efficient placement, proper maintenance, visibility and clarity of road signage. They also advocate for the introduction minimum maintenance standards for safety critical signs under the Vienna Convention.

Some specific needs of older drivers are pointed out in one section of ERF document (chapter 4.3, page 17-19)
