MOPACT brainstorming meeting on a new paradigm of ageing

On 6-7 March, AGE participated in the brainstorming meeting of the MOPACT project, a three-year research project which aims at generating evidence base for a new optimistic paradigm of ageing. The project is developing scenarios of active ageing following a three-step approach:

  1. To measure the extent and potential of active ageing across European Union countries in all its multifaceted form;
  2. To identify the combination of macro, meso and micro actions necessary to enhance healthy life expectancy;
  3. To engage with diverse stakeholders to gain insights about future socially innovative strategies and their potential to upscale.

The aim of the brainstorming was to receive a feedback on the first findings from the multidisciplinary team of researchers that are focusing on the key challenges of ageing across five dimensions of social and economic impact:

  • Economic and financial consequences of ageingMOPACT Logo
  • Societal structures, civil society and cohesion
  • Social support, long-term care and quality of life
  • The built and technological environment
  • Health and well-being, biogerontology, and frailty

The brainstorming also aimed at organising the first MOPACT Active Ageing Forum in order to appraise MOPACT’s interim research findings, and to collect ideas and guidance about innovative ways to develop the work and maximise its impact. Five AGE members will be invited to the Forum in order to bring the users’ perspective in the work of the researchers.
