Active Retirement Ireland Participates in the Launch of the Communicating Europe Initiative 2025

Alison Bough, Active Retirement Ireland

Our Irish member, Active Retirement Ireland, was honoured to participate in the launch of the Communicating Europe Initiative (CEI) 2025 alongside Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence, Thomas Byrne.

The CEI is a key initiative supporting projects that enhance public understanding of the European Union’s impact on daily life. Thanks to CEI funding in 2024, Active Retirement Ireland was able to deliver the ‘Amplifying Older Voices’ campaign, which engaged older people across Ireland in the European Parliament elections and highlighted their role in shaping EU policy.

Active Retirement Ireland extends its gratitude to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Minister Byrne, Stephen Ryan, Maeve von Heynitz, Charisma Trant, and the CEI team for their ongoing support. It was a valuable opportunity to share the project’s impact and key learnings at the launch event.

Quote

"It was a pleasure to share our project’s impact and learnings at today’s launch. I look forward to seeing how this year’s theme, ‘The European Union as a catalyst for change’, inspires new initiatives across Ireland."
