The AGE Spanish member organisation Unión Democrática de Pensionistas (UDP) is organizing free, face-to-face training sessions for older people who are responsible for the day-to-day management of organisations or associations. The training programme, starting in March 2020 and held throughout the year 2020, is open to all older persons interested in improving the management of their association. It will aim to increase their knowledge on e.g. how to run programs and social projects, manage basic accounting, apply basic legal regulations for associations, relate with public administrations, etc. Some sessions will be dedicated to the participation of older women who are part of an association’s governance and/or daily management.

For UDP President, Paca Tricio, “the Information Society must be an inclusive society, providing access to its services and opportunities to all people without distinction. Access is a right, let us not forget it”.

In the last 25 years, UDP has been working to improve the empowerment of older people within associations, mainly those who cannot afford to hire labour personnel.
