The Dutch Senior Organisation ANBO is sounding the alarm about the financing of home care in the Netherlands, which they say are not getting the financial support needed from health insurers to manage the increased demand.
New funding plans for home care this year and next year are already partly implemented in the Netherlands. For example, by a fixed price per client instead of cost per hour periods, and an incentive that encourages innovation in healthcare. Now the government still takes part in the financing of home nursing services, but from 2017, health insurance companies will be fully responsible for paying them. The new approach of the home care is part of the comprehensive reform of long-term care which give local authorities and health insurers a greater role in health care (insurance) and support (municipalities) for seniors and young people.
