Commission releases Country-Specific Recommendations 2014

On 2 June 2014, the European Commission released its country-specific recommendations (CSRs) towards EU member States. This year, the Commission sees an upward trend in macroeconomics and stops the deficit procedures against 7 European States. The Commission has also made recommendations on pension systems and long-term care, as well on employment matters.

AGE and its members will assess the recommendation in the coming weeks and come up with their analysis on their impact on the lives of older people in Europe.

The CSRs are part of the European Semester process of macroeconomic coordination and represent the Commission’s assessment of member state’s National Reform Programmes. The recommendations are debated in the European Parliament and will be formally adopted by the Spring European Council later this summer.
