EU-retirement-week-2021-logos

The European retirement week, which we launched last June together with 8 other European associations (read our joint press release), is a week of debates addressing the issue of pensions at EU level and taking place from 29 November to 3 December.

The full programme is available on the website of Insurance Europe.

During that week, on 1 December 13:00-15:00, AGE Platform Europe will hold an online conversation on Realising and protecting pension adequacy across the pillars for current and future generations.
Participants will examine the increasing rates of poverty and social exclusion of pensioners and the persisting gender gaps in pensions in the EU. We will look at multi-pillar pension systems from the points of view of fiscal justice, inter-generational solidarity, and discuss in how far savers and beneficiaries have control over the investment choices empowered by their funds.

We are delighted to confirm the participation of Ana-Carla Pereira, Expert in the Cabinet of Mr Nicolas Schmit, ETUC, the Chair of the Working Group on the Pension Adequacy Report, Finance Watch, Mr Jozef Pacolet and Petits frères des Pauvres, alongside AGE member organisations CNA Pensionati and Older Women’s Network Europe.

The session will have two panels:

  • Old-age income to live in dignity: realizing European Pillar of Social Rights principle 15
  • Supplementary pensions – what impact on adequacy, social justice and inter-generational responsibility

The debate will be hosted online via zoom.
