COVID-19 and informal carers: improving care integration for better outcomes

Informal carers represent a huge segment of the health and care workforce. Most care for people requiring long-term care is provided by spouses, relatives and friends. They are often caring for people who have been particularly vulnerable during the pandemic. This raises the issue of care integration between informal care and health services. This may include communication technologies, welfare policies, mobile services, financing, training or other measures.
