AGE Platform Europe and the European consortium ATHLOS invite you to join the meeting to discuss demographic scenarios and healthy ageing policies at the European Parliament.
Ageing is a natural process that affects us differently. Several health and social determinants, such as age, sex, genetics, education, physical activity, smoking…, influence how healthy we age.
- How does a physically fit, low educated 40-year old adult age differently than a highly educated, smoking 40-year old adult?
- What determinants come into play when ageing?
- And which public policies can positively influence ageing trajectories?
Since 2015, the EU-funded ATHLOS project has been working to create a single metric of healthy ageing for a better understanding of ageing. It has identified patterns of healthy ageing trajectories, their determinants, and the critical points in time when changes in trajectories are produced, with the ultimate goal to propose timely public health interventions for healthy ageing.
Passing such a wealth of evidence to policy-makers is essential to ensure adequate policies and interventions, at European, national and local levels.
A draft agenda of the event is available here. MEP Brglez, as representative of both EMPL and ENVI Committees, will chair and host the meeting.
Please register here to the event. Seats are limited and your participation will be confirmed by e-mail.
