European Accessibility Act – Find out why Europe needs a strong and ambitious law!
On 25 April, the European Parliament’s Internal Market & Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO) adopted its report on the European Accessibility Act (EAA). The report however falls short in protecting the interests of millions of EU consumers, including 80 million Europeans with disabilities and more than 150 million older people.
The Council of the EU is also discussing the draft directive on the accessibility of products and services and concerns are voiced by some Member States about its potential financial impact.
The EAA truly has the potential to improve peoples’ everyday lives as well as to increase business competitiveness and innovation, and ahead of its adoption by the EP plenary and the Council in the coming months, we, the organisations representing persons with disabilities (EDF), older persons (AGE) and consumers (ANEC), invite you to learn more on the EAA, its implications, and how we can achieve a more accessible Europe!
