At this virtual launch event the International Longevity Centre-UK (ILC) will present its new report on what works in delivering a preventative approach to health in an ageing world.

Speakers and facilitators include:

  • Dr John Beard, previously Director of Ageing and Life Course, World Health Organization (WHO)
  • Prof Annelies Wilder-Smith, Professor of Emerging Infectious Diseases, LSHTM and Focal Point of COVID-19 vaccines SAGE committee
  • Dr Naoko Yamamoto, Assistant Director-General for Universal Health Coverage and Healthier Populations, WHO
  • Arunima Himawan, Research Fellow, ILC-UK

Despite international consensus that prevention is better than cure, there’s been too little action for too long – particularly in the form of expenditure. This report will collate the findings of ILC’s two-year Delivering prevention project, which has explored:

  • What works in delivering a preventative approach to health in an ageing world;
  • How to improve take-up and adherence to preventative interventions;
  • What we have learned from COVID-19;
  • And how policymakers across the world need move from consensus to action on prevention.
