We are pleased to invite you to an online event to discuss how to promote civil and political participation of older persons and showcase examples of how older persons exercise their right to civil and political participation in their communities.
This event is the first of the series “An engaged civil society as engine for an age-friendly society: an international exchange”, organised by BAGSO, the German National Association of Senior Citizens‘ Organisations, in cooperation with UNECE, the NGO Committee on Ageing Geneva and AGE Platform Europe and with the support of the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) of Germany.
The webinar is primarily targeted to civil society organisations, older persons and their representative organisations with the aim to learn about civil and political participation and engage in an exchange with peers from countries of the UNECE region. However, it is also open to other stakeholders interested in engaging with civil society, in particular in the context of updating the Regional Implementation Strategy (RIS) of the Madrid International Plan on Action on Ageing (MIPAA). The engagement in this process will be central to the subsequent online event of this series later in 2024.
Conference languages will be English and German. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided.
The programme and registration link will be available soon.
You can find out more in the draft concept note.
