Locally funded driving classes for seniors

Senior driving course In France and Belgium, driving courses funded by municipalities or provinces are proposed to senior motorists over 65 willing to refresh or update their driving knowledge and practices.

As they advance in age, some people may not feel so comfortable with driving. Road traffic has increased a lot over the last decades and car technology has evolved. Besides, many older people have never had any driving or highway code examination in their lifetime. Also, although driving skill may still be fine, ageing has an impact on our way of driving and being aware of – and adapting to – those changes, may be useful for everyone’s safety.

The objective of those training sessions is not to judge on the ability to drive, but to help older drivers to regain confidence and remain independent as long as possible. They allow to get updated on highway code development, assess vision and reflexes and present driving aids on cars.
