10 September will mark World Suicide Prevention Day.
AGE has partnered with GAMIAN-Europe, an EU network working on mental health and marking this day every year, to put a spotlight on suicidality among older persons. The reason is that despite an overall decline in suicide rates over the last decades in the EU, this decline is not reflected among the older age group.
Over summer, we have organised online focus groups to explore reasons for suicidality among older persons and community-based interventions to prevent it, as well as mental health care for older people more generally. We are now launching a survey to have a wider outreach.
Your input matters! Fill out our survey
The survey is aimed at experts by experience and their family members, as well as people who work on mental health of older persons. It is available in 5 languages (English, French, German, Italian and Spanish). It will be used to produce a synthesis report and advocacy messages to raise awareness for suicidality among older persons on 10 September and thereafter.
The deadline to answer the survey is 3rd September 2024
Please help us by spreading this survey via your own social media channels, newsletters, and forwarding it to anyone you know who might want to answer (as well as answering yourselves).
