Active Senior Citizens project releases full train the trainer programme and publications in 8 languages

ASCE logoThe 'Active Senior Citizens for Europe' project (2013-2014) developed a set of train-the-trainer modules aiming to explain and clarify to seniors what the European Union is, understand its decision-making processes and how they and civil society organisations can influence them. The trainings were tested in two EU workshops in Brussels in October 2013 and June 2014.

They were adapted and translated into 7 languages (FR, IT, EL, SK, SI, PT, BG) in order to be tested on groups of seniors. The training modules include interactive sessions with quizzes, videos, images and work in small groups. It also includes a simulation game on the European Parliament decision-making processes.

The training programme is supported by two documents: a short 'guide to the EU' explaining through key questions essential information on the EU, and a longer guide to the EU including detailed explanation on EU institutions and policies.

The training sessions showed the high interest of senior organisations to develop closer links with members of the European Parliament (MEPs) to enable direct exchanges of view and opinions between MEPs and their consistuency, but also to take part in participatory programmes such as on age-friendly environments.

The training programme and accompanying publications are freely available for download in all languages following those links:
