AGE introduces Charter on the rights of older persons in need of care in Bilbao

On 13th June, close to the World Awareness Day against elder abuse, AGE Platform Europe participated in the ‘social encounters’ of the Biscay Provincial Government in Spain. The topic of this 26th edition was the rights of older persons. Different approaches (geographical, sociological, psychological) were introduced to the concept of frailty and to emphasize older persons are rights holders.

Representatives from the Basque and the Catalan organisations of older persons signed an agreement of cooperation on that day.

AGE introduced the main challenges for the rights of older persons in Europe, the current protection and detailed the work done with the European Charter for the Rights and responsibilities of older persons in need of care and assistance(EUSTaCEA project).
