Initiated by EUPHA (European Public Health Association), CSC (Consorci de Salut i Social de Catalunya) and EASP (Andalusian School of Public Health), the Granada Declaration is a statement calling on European governments to take concrete steps to protect the health of migrants and ethnic minorities in Europe and to guarantee their right to health care.
The final version of the document was presented at the Closing Ceremony of the 5th EUPHA European Conference on Migrant and Ethnic Minority Health. It is available in English, Spanish and French on the Conference website at:www.eupha-migranthealthconference.com/?page_id=1766
By 29th July 2014, 98 institutions, including European and national institutions, professional associations and civil society organisations, endorsed the document, as well as 399 individuals (339 of them granted permission for publishing their names). Those documents, which is aimed to be used as Public Health advocacy at national and EU level, have been presented to major EU officials and published in the WHO/EURO web page and in many other web pages, news letters, blogs, social networks around Europe. It is also planned to be forwarded to the Spanish Minister of Health Care, Social Services and Equality, accompanied by a press conference.
AGE Platform Europe has endorsed this Declaration, which is in line with our efforts to combat discrimination and defend the right to accessible health care and social services for all, in particular the most vulnerable population groups including older migrants.
