AGE participates in the EU-funded project ‘Mentoring Across Borders’ and invites organisations and people interested in mentoring to join the online info session of the project on 25 July at 10:00 CEST.

Sharing skills

Mentoring Across Borders (MAB) aims to support the educational, professional and personal development of people by developing an intergenerational, cross-border mentoring programme. This programme involves older, experienced people (mentors, 50+) and younger mentees (18-30-year-olds) at risk of marginalization.

The project aims to develop mentoring hubs, which are organisations where older volunteers decide to put their skills at the service of younger people. Organisations can be:

  • Experienced: already participating in local, national or European mentoring projects
  • Newcomers: organisations aspiring to learn and apply new methods of intergenerational mentoring, thanks to the support of other experienced organisations.

Nine organisations are already acting as mentoring hubs in the Mentoring Across Borders project, among them the two AGE members 50plus Hellas (Greece) and Cyprus Third Age Observatory (Cyprus).

You can read more on MAB in the project’s first newsletter that provides information on what mentoring is in the project context, what has been done so far and what has inspired us. You can subscribe here to the next editions of the newsletter.

Want to get involved?

AGE will organise two information sessions targeted at AGE members but open also to external organisations and older people that are interested in potentially becoming a mentoring hub or mentor.

A second session will be held in October.

For organisations that have expressed interest in becoming mentoring hubs, AGE will organise a training in September. The goal of the training will be to prepare interested organisations to assume the role of the mentoring hub and participate in the project pilot activities.
