Medicines shortages: causes urgently need to be identified, warn health advocates

Together with 30 other organisations, AGE co-signed a letter requesting the European Commission to investigate the worrying issue of medicines shortages in EU hospitals. This problem has been raised by public health and healthcare professionals organisations for a long time and keeps increasing at EU level. The signatories asked the European Commission to launch and fund a thorough research to provide clear and transparent information on the root causes of medicine shortage, including on responsible entities and affected population groups, to healthcare professionals, patients and the general public.

In its contribution to the Sibiu Summit, the European Commission recognises the need to address this issue. It is now time to act!
