New EU Standard on Accessibility follows a Design for All approach

Handicap_symbol-Unsplash An important new European Standard was published on 12 March 2019. The Design for All – Accessibility following a Design for All approach in products, goods and services – Extending the range of users is the result of the European Commission Standardization Request M/473 to include ‘Design For All’ in relevant standardization initiatives.

This standard aims to help organisations align with a consistent approach to address accessibility for persons with disabilities. It specifies requirements for an organisation to design, develop and provide products, goods and services that can be accessed, understood and used by the wide range of users including persons with disabilities and older persons.

AGE has monitored the development of this standard, thanks to its involvement within the Strategic Advisory Group on Accessibility.
