Assistive technologies, which correspond to specific and well-defined user needs, co-exist with the design-for-all approach which promotes accessible and mainstream ICT-based goods and services. Exploring the potential of AAL to create inclusive environments will open up the AAL market and maximize its impact on users’ daily lives, as they will be supported throughout their everyday activities. Taking advantage of the technical evolution of AAL technologies in housing and urban environments can eventually contribute to societies which are designed for all. Not forgetting the ethical implication of technology and its use is another must. AGE, sitting in the Advisory Board of the Forum’s organization since 2009, fosters this vision and encourages initiatives, networking opportunities and discussions promoting age-friendly environments.
