Care homes for older Europeans: Public, private and not-for-profit providers

Care Homes_public-private_Eurofound_report2017 This report by Eurofound examines the services provided in public and private care homes, how they differ in terms of the quality, accessibility and efficiency of services.
As private provision increases, costs to users are likely to become a significant barrier unless there is an increase in public benefits to subsidise use. The report also points out some differences in the location of different types of care homes.

AGE members contributed to this report by providing information about developments in their countries as well as their views regarding the implications of the increasing presence of the private for-profit actors for access and quality.
