Maximizing Healthy Life Years: Investments that Pay Off

Arguing that healthy populations can be a solution to gain a competitive advantage in difficult economic times, this new report produced by the World Economic Forum assesses the full range of costs and benefits societies face when investing in the health system and maximizing healthy life years.

Increased healthy life expectancy is closely linked with increased productivity, reduced healthcare costs, reduced risk of poverty and overall higher levels of well-being, the report explains. Moreover, populations that live longer are productive over a longer time period and consume more during that extended life.
