Every year, April 11 is World Day for the Parkinson’s community to rally and raise awareness on this age-related chronic disease affecting 1.2 million people in Europe. While there is yet no cure, medical teams and technologists are calling for older adults to participate in a remote research for Parkinson’s early detection.
Blood donation comes naturally to you? Now you can share your data! We can only guess the amount and type of data that can contribute to medical research. AGE is part of a European research and innovation project developing a mobile app that will use data such as the tone of our voice while we give a call, the timing and pressure on the keyboard as we type a message, the facial expression on selfies, the routes we take with the help of location tools…to advance the way Parkinson’s will be diagnosed in the future.
By downloading the iPrognosis mobile app, you will participate in a remote medical trial for the development of an artificial intelligence algorithm. This algorithm needs everyone’s participation – both healthy adults and adults with early Parkinson’s – to be trained to screen for behavioural changes relating to the disease. This trial will eventually lead to the creation of an intelligent screening tool that will be able to identify early symptoms that could not have been spotted by physicians in regular consultations.
Do what you do every day: nothing more, nothing less! Download the iPrognosis mobile app and help people living with Parkinson’s benefiting from earlier detection and treaments.
People that will download the application will be contributing to a large-scale data collection study that has been reviewed and given favourable opinion by the nation Ethics Committees in the four countries where the app is available: Germany, Greece, Portugal and the UK. Participants have the possibility to withdraw at any time. More information available on: www.i-prognosis.eu
